Success in the home based business industry is a process and not an event. Even those seemingly overnight successes were anything but. It took months-maybe even years-of preparation, hard work, and determination to make that home based business work. To the outside, it looks as though the success happened overnight, but it truly never does.So why do people persist in thinking this? It’s the downfall of living in a microwave society! We are used to having things fast and easy-not necessarily high quality, but that’s another story. We can log on to the Internet at any time and find anything we want. There’s instant movie on demand ordering, drive through meals, ATMs in case we need cash at midnight. This has effected how people view success in their home based business. They expect to start today and be rich tomorrow. Anyone call tell you that doesn’t happen. In fact, the expectation of instant success is so powerful that people will just dive into an MLM home based business opportunity with no parachute-no alternative means of supporting themselves until the business takes off. When overnight success doesn’t happen in their home based business, they decide to quit. The real problem is that they didn’t do their due diligence to choose a better business model-a model that could help maximize their earning potential with fewer headaches. You see, a home based business is just like any other business. It has to be sustainable; it has to have a large enough target market willing to pay the price of the product or service; and it has to have an effective way of marketing the product or service to the target audience. Check it off your list: If the home based business model you are looking at doesn’t have all three of those elements, it’s not going to work, trust me!You also need to look at volume of sales in your home based business. If the product is priced low, you are going to have to sell a large volume to have any hope of making money. If it’s priced high, you don’t need very many sales to sustain your business.Once you do find the right home based business opportunity, you need to put in the work. Don’t just slap up a website and think that customers will blow your doors off. You need to build a brand and make it visible and compelling to qualified prospects. And guess what? This takes time. Success is a process-not a one-time event.Look at Donald Trump. After his first success, did he stop? Absolutely not! He kept going, kept building new properties. He didn’t stop there, either. He signed on for the TV show. He kept going! To this day, he is still releasing books, still building his brand. He knows that success is a process, not an event.Test this out for yourself. Find a successful person in the home based business industry. Ask them what they think-was their success a one-time deal or an ongoing process? Plan To Succeed With Information Product Creation: Why You Need To Split Your Process Up
One of the keys to succeeding in information product creation is to break the process up into discrete steps. This frequently isn’t an instinctive reaction for the typical information marketer. Especially on the internet where small sized learning products are the norm.
However, it is extremely important to your ultimate success. In fact, I would go so far as to say that if you don’t do this you probably won’t succeed… even when you are starting out let alone as you move forward.
Your product creation system should do this for you if only to help you to understand the overall task.
But why?
In this article, I’m going to ignore chunking and focus on the practical aspects. That’s not to say that chunking isn’t important. It is. It’s important to understanding and to learning the process. But while you can use the same chunks as you move forward, long term your focus needs to be on the operation of the system not the understanding of it. Unless of course you are constantly training new people!
So why is chunking important to long term use of the product creation process? (Yes, I know systems design uses a different term for this process but I’m not teaching you systems design. So I’m going to use the word learning content designers use.)
The first reason that having individual discrete tasks is important is one of schedule estimation. Frequently it is very difficult to estimate how long the total task of creating a product will take. After all, the size and type of the products matters as does the number of products in your product funnel. And those are just the most obvious elements. However, estimating a discrete task is often much easier. The total can then be estimated as the total of the discrete tasks.
Secondly, scheduling a large task can be problematic. However, by segmenting the task into a number of discrete tasks, you gain a much greater flexibility in scheduling. Not only that but as your business begins to add people you are able to schedule multiple people to the product creation.
Finally, segmenting a large task into smaller discrete tasks allows you to have much better control over the product creation. This affects two different areas — status and quality.
By segmenting your process into discrete tasks you are able to schedule and record the progress at much more detailed level. As a result you are more in control of the status of the product creation. You know what everyone is doing. When they should complete it. And how much it should cost. You also know exactly what has been done.
You also improve your overall quality. Instead of waiting until everything is done you can check quality as you go. This allows you to immediate react to low quality products without absorbing their costs. This means that you have less rework and your rework costs less. And if the product is not going to meet its quality requirement you will know about it in time to stop the development, change the requirement or fix the product.
Acquiring Your Own Home Based Business Leads
Home based business leads are of utmost importance when it comes to successfully running and growing your own business, and there are a variety of ways that one can go about in getting these leads, ranging from purchasing the leads themselves to the actual self marketing and acquisition thereof. So many of us dream of the possibility of starting and running our own home based business, and although it may well be somewhat of a challenge, it is far from being impossible or unachievable. The level of desire and commitment that one has to achieve this goal or objective will in all likelihood determine the success or failure of such a venture. Within this process of growing the home business is one of the most important aspects of home based business leads, or otherwise referred to as prospects. These are the individuals or companies that one would normally target in terms of presenting your product or service to and aiming to close a sale with these folks to ensure that you are meeting your sales and revenue targets. Without customers and sales where applicable, a business whether it be home based or not is literally dead in the water.Going about getting the home based business leads for someone operating from home may at first prove to be a little more challenging, largely due to the fact that there is less interaction with others when working from the isolation of one’s home. But this can be changed, and is totally within the home based entrepreneur’s control, as he or she can choose to get out into the market place via networking opportunities and build up from there. Often times the fledgling business may fail because of the lack of such social and professional interaction and therefore the importance thereof is vital. This interaction can take the form of social get-togethers, local business member meetings such as Chambers of Commerce, associations and societies, as well as through local sports clubs. These places are normally teaming with prospects, especially like minded business people and owners that are also looking to expand their businesses.Alternatively the telephone book has often been used as a source for all types of leads, so why not give the local book a try to acquire some of your own home based business leads, it is at the very least a starting point and may lead onto bigger customers and contracts too. By establishing a solid base or foundation within your business, albeit from a cold calling perspective you will place yourself in a position to succeed, whilst growing your confidence during this phase. The most important point here is that you cannot let yourself get down and continue to seek out those valid and qualified leads on a daily basis.Making it a daily habit will make it easier, and you will soon come to realize that it is a numbers game in terms of getting the leads, and then closing the sale. Home based business leads will ensure your ultimate success and you can literally never have enough of these valuable ‘commodities’ in your own business.
